Nadia and Carol
Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born December 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 in an Olympic contest. Bela Karalyi discovered Comaneci when she was six. She would later become the coach for Romania's gymnastics. Her first competition was at the national junior championships in 1969, finishing 13th. She did well in the 1970 competition. Her first competition in the international arena was in 1972, a pre-Olympic junior meet for the communist-bloc countries she took home three golds In 1973 and 1974, she was the junior all-around champion. She won four gold and one silver in her senior debut international competition, held in 1975. This was the first time she competed as a senior. The American Cup was hers to win. American Cup in New York City in 1976, becoming the first woman to perform a backward double salto as a dismount from the unbalanced parallel bars. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. As a teenager she started appearing on travel shows like Ice Capades as a skater as well as her younger sibling Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne is a US citizen born September 6 1942 in Chicago Illinois. Carol began her professional career as an entertainer as a teenager. At the age of 13 Carol was an ice figure skater in the traveling show Ice Capades with her sister Nina Wayne. The shows featured theatrical ice-skating performance.
