Jennifer Garner, born April 17, 1972, in Houston, Texas, was raised within Charleston West Virginia. Her father, William John Garner, was a chemical engineer for Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner, the mother of Patricia Ann, taught at an area college. She received her degree with a chemical engineering degree to follow her father. To achieve her dream of becoming an actress, she moved in New York. Chefs were employed at an eatery in New York as well as appearing in Broadway productions. She appeared in an appearance on the tv show "Felicity." It was in this show that she first met Scott Foley, her first husband. She got her big break in the action thriller "Alias." Garner's first lead role was in the highly acclaimed romance "13 Going on 30." She portrayed a teenager who found herself locked in the body an older woman of 30. Garner picked Gary Winick as the director of her movie. They continued looking for roles until Winick's passing in 2011. Garner has been designated as an artist ambassador by Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009, was an integral role in the organization. This includes the advancement of literacy, nutrition and early education. From 2014 onwards, Garner has been a part of the board of trustees of the organization. She has been pushing for early childhood education. As an ambassador she visits often with the families who belong to Early Steps to School Success which is a program designed to guide parents in how to assist youngsters in their learning.
